New Manchester United Signings

TORO REELMASTERS ARRIVE AT MAN U

With Manchester United Football Club's Carrington training ground currently being remodelled to include hard footpaths between the pitches, grounds manager Tony Sinclair needed a more manoeuvrable mowing solution.

A single Toro Reelmaster 6700-D wide-area mower previously cut the Premier League giant’s training pitches, but now three new Toro Reelmaster 3100-D mowers with Duel Precision Adjustment cutting units are doing the job.

Tony says that these machines are better suited to the task. “The walkways have been put in to prevent spectators wearing the grass,” he reveals. “After trying the 3100-Ds we found they were better able to cope with the more confined spaces around the paths. They're more manoeuvrable and adaptable.”

Tony’s also invested in a fourth Reelmaster 3100-D to cut the Littleton Road academy training ground.

All the machinery supplied by local Toro dealer Cheshire Turf Machinery.

Oldham Athletic Football Club

It’s been an exciting month as well for Oldham Athletic Football Club. The NPower League One side, managed by former Arsenal and Manchester City player, Paul Dickov, qualified for the Northern Final of the Johnstones Trophy earlier in the month, leaving them possibly just 180 minutes away from appearing at Wembley.
Last night, after beating Southend United in the F.A. Cup, the club secured a lucrative third round tie with Premier League giants Liverpool F.C..
Only hours earlier Head Groundsman Chris Bailey was also celebrating, after receiving delivery of 2 brand new ALLETT BUFFALO 34” cylinder mowers. The Buffalo’s will be used to prepare the pitch at Boundary Park.
The club, who were original members of the Premier League, agreed the deal which also included a re-furbished TORO REELMASTER for use at its training ground, following an offer of help from TRUST OLDHAM, the fans trust group which raises funds to protect the future of Oldham Athletic.

Record December brings Christmas cheer

Despite being less than half way through the month, sales have soared to a new record for December.
Already this month, we have invoiced over half a million pounds worth of new machinery, thanks to repeat business from customers such as Chesterfield, Caldy, Crewe, Ashbourne, Pleasington and Rochdale Golf Clubs.
We’ll bring you more background on these success stories, in the New Year when we have support photographs available.

Mark Crossley course manager of Chesterfield Golf Club

“We recently took delivery of our 2nd of hopefully many purchases by Chesterfield Golf Club we signed a Partnership Agreement with Cheshire Turf Machinery in 2011. The last year has seen high support from the golf club in all aspects, especially machinery. This has seen over £200,000 spent in a 12 month period.

That investment has seen the introduction of Toro Greensmaster 1000 pedestrian greens mowers, which have made a high impact both on playing quality and the aesthetic values of the greens. These machines have helped alleviate the necessity for the greens to be mown lower than 4mm and still achieve the speeds demanded by the modern day golfer.

Add to the Toro GR1000’s, the recently acquired new Toro TriFlex 3400 and our existing Greensmaster 3250D, I am sure that whichever cultural methods are employed on a particular day, we have enough flexibility in the new improved fleet to cope.

I am really looking forward to using the Toro Workman heavy duty truck this season. This is a first for Chesterfield G.C. In the past, tractors have been used for tasks such as spraying and topdressing. I feel the introduction of the Workman will aid me greatly when carrying out these operations, minimising disruption to play even further.

The Groundsmaster 4500 contour rotary has served the club well over the last 6 years, so I felt no need to change model. In saying this, I am sure that the modifications Toro have made (mainly the Smartcool fan system, air-ride seat and Control Hub with fingertip electronic controls) will mean even greater productivity and rider comfort.

We have already seen the benefits of the two Toro Reelmaster 3100's purchased last year. The quality of cut at a range of heights, the ability to mow closely to the edges of newly constructed bunkers and the ease at which these machines can operate in difficult areas.

Cheshire Turf Machinery was a new contact when I joined Chesterfield G.C. two years ago and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Chris Halley has been excellent in all aspects of the job. The parts and service team have also been excellent when called upon.

I am sure Chesterfield Golf Club and Cheshire Turf Machinery will remain in partnership for many years to come.”

Ashbourne Golf Club

Rich Walker of Ashbourne Golf Club
When I first joined Ashbourne Golf Club the need to update and renew the machinery was a high priority. The first machine on the list was a replacement for our fairway mower. I contacted Toro and they put me in touch with our local dealership which was Chris at Cheshire Turf Machinery.
We looked at different options/models and decided upon the Toro Reelmaster 5610-D which gave us a fantastic finish with minimum fuss and maximum effect. The grass dispersal fins and rear roller brushes allowing us to cut in all conditions with minimal, if any, mess.
The real problem still lay with our large areas of semi/rough which took huge amounts of man hours every week to keep on top of. We eventually decided upon the Toro Groundsmaster 4000-D on a lease hire/operating lease, which again proved to be superb in every department. This machine just out-performed anything we looked at and transformed our mowing, allowing us much more time to concentrate on more important areas on the course.
When we started the negotiations of the GM4000 -D we decided it would be in the best interest of the club to sign a partnership agreement with Steve and Chris at CTM, which has proved to be a real bonus for all concerned.
In 2010-11 we got a 3250 Greens Master on lease purchase and various Greentek cassettes and vibe rollers which helped enormously in our greens consistency. Our most recent acquisitions have been a Groundsmaster 3500-D and a Reelmaster 3100-D both on operating leases which we all look forward to using in the new season.
We regularly hire the Procore 648 which again is a truly brilliant machine. I cannot speak highly enough of this machine and if you haven't tried it or seen it book a test drive ASAP.
Ever since we made our first deal to go with CTM and Toro I feel we haven't looked back. All the equipment has met our needs and in most cases exceeded our expectations. The service in all departments has been excellent and I look forward to our next round of negotiations in the not to distant future.
